GOSHEN -- Friends of Natalie J. Jontz may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 2626 Prairie St., Elkhart, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. John Blodgett of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Natalie, 16, of 60755 Creekstone Drive, Goshen, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday (May 12, 2005) at Elkhart General Hospital from injuries suffered in a car accident Wednesday morning.
She was born Jan. 2, 1989, in De Kalb, Ill., to Darrell and Jean (Durham) Jontz.
They survive, along with two sisters, Ali Jontz, at home, and JoAnne (Joe) Kelly of Lincolnshire, Ill.; two brothers, Karl (Allison) Jontz of Dallas, Texas, and Derek (Kellsa) Jontz of De Kalb; grandparents Gerald (Bernice) Durham of Genoa, Ill., and Frances Jontz of Newton, Iowa; and great-grandmother Lillie Odom of Genoa.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Max Jontz, and great-grandfather Lester Odom.
Natalie and her family moved to Elkhart two years ago from Genoa. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart, where she was involved in many church ministries. An honor student, she was attending Elkhart Christian Academy, where she served as a secretary/treasurer of her sophomore class and excelled at sports and music. She played piano and trumpet and sang in the school choir. She played volleyball, basketball, softball and indoor soccer.
Memorials may be given to Elkhart Christian Academy.
Westbrook-Metz & Clouse Funeral Home, 1129 Prairie St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
